    69 caliper question

Pulled a leaking front caliper off my 69. It is the original caliper or at least has the correct number. My question is: Does it appear to have been sleeved? I have attached some photos.

    Thanks!

Even though there appears to be a slight ridge inboard of the boot retaining groove, I don't think it's been sleeved. But, if it has been sleeved, it was sleeved with VERY poor quality stainless steel sleeves.

Ty, I really do not think its been sleeved, I have seen many. there is a small ridge at the top of a sleeved caliper. Joe I have seen different types of sleeves, some of the independent rebuilder do use a low quality steel sleeve, and the major guys into rebuilding just Corvette brake parts use quality stainless sleeve. Brass sleeves I have seen on wheel cylinders and master cylinders also.

Yes, many of the high volume, budget priced rebuilds use DECORATIVE stainless steel sleeves. Most quality rebuilds use type 304 or 316 stainless.

Thanks for the feedback guys. My gut feeling is that it was not sleeved although it is hard to tell as that ridge is quite deceiving. It's probably been at least 30 years since I've had one of these apart.
