    Rochester fast idle cam stamping?

I like to know if it was unusual to see a stamped series of numbers on a Rochester carburetor fast idle cam? The stamp I see is located just above the "donut hole" and is visible even when it is installed. If so what did these stamps mean?

Mark, On an FI unit the stamping on some of the fast idle cams represent the suffix of the part number. For example: A 63 FI cam is 7017262. On the cam itself is stamped 17262.
Just guessing but the same idea may apply to the RP carb fast idle cam. Now to wait for a better answer for you. John

Thanks john. I just finally received my finished carburetor. I posted pics in another thread prior to linkage replacement. One part we were waiting for was this fast idle cam The original was so pitted and ugly it stood out like a sore thumb. We got a nice looking one and it looks great. But has this number I speak of. It sounds like from your post these numbers did show up on them. My original was so bad and worn I could not confirm it had them. I have pics and perhaps I will toss them up. I also wonder if this stamp is even judged or is it of no interest?

Okay I have the before and after pics. This restoration really was something else. I am hoping it will judge well.
My specific question I have is with the fast idle cam. See how there are numbers on it? The color and its size and
shape look right. But I cannot find any information on whether or numbers were typically stamped or if it is
even a concern when the carb gets judged. I don't know. Trying to find out if someone with original carb knowledge
knows if these numbers did show up originally and if they are even considered during the judging process? Thanks.

        Thanks. Here is the before:

And this is what I ended up with:

          Marc,
For whatever it might be worth the fast idle cam on my original 72 carb does not have any numbers where yours does. It does, however, appear to have the number "6" stamped on it below the hole in the part.

Leif hearing your comment is such a delight to me. Thank you. This has been a painful process and the final extravanganza will be how it works when installed. I am awaiting the correct exhaust from Corvette Central to arrive on more doorstep. Then have the carb, the correct intake manifold which I found recently and exhaust put in and the car tuned.

I had to have a two fold restoration. First I used Cliff Ruggles to save this carb. As you can see it was a huge mess. He performed the initial work. The carb still needed serious cosmetic improvements. I went to a local guy who was recommended by a friend. It was great to go to his shop and watch the transformation. He really went over and beyond to help me. A class act! We got stuck on a couple of parts, which we found one, and the other was the fast idle cam. The original was horrible and just looked bizzare with the other nice parts. He called me that he had this fast idle with the numbers and went ahead with it. Although it looks GREAT I am wondering about the stamp and its judging significance. I really like it and please know the pics make it really visible. If I didn't tell the average joe about it they wouldn't even notice? Are there any Joe's who judge? My luck I will get a guy who worked the Rochester factory and say, NOPE!!!!! this carb is horrible. look at that stamp on the fast idle cam. Full deduct on this carb and NO SOUP FOR YOU!!!!!

Here are some more pics. I took them with various lighting.

You response is worth a lot to me. It puts more fly in the ointment. Variations can be a good thing.

Now got information that they didn't have them from one person. Then another guy tells me he has seen stamps like mine on ones he seen. And now the number "6" stamped on it. If there does not appear to be a hard and fast answer I guess this stamping wouldn't even come into play.

                Best regards.
