Roger that bolt w/stud would have been black phosphate finish from factory, I believe as all the pump bolts on my 72 are black phos. , and that Bolt on w/pump was left un painted. As it goes the factory remove and replaced the painted bolts that have brackets attached to them, So being the alternator bracket is attach to w/pump ,it should have no paint.

Edward so I understand. in 69 should all the water pump bolts be orange and just that head between the bracket left unpainted, or is everything black except for the bolt between the bracket. Sorry I am a little slow.

I would suggest that everything you show as zinc in your photo should be black phosphate.
I believe this would include the zinc bolts you show as holding on the power steering bracket.

There were few, if any, zinc bolts used on your engine.
