Does anyone have the specifications for fan belt 3840397? It's the A/C belt.

The GM #3840397 belt was a 15/32 X 57" belt. As far as I can tell, it was always this dimension. I'm kind of surprised that this would have been used on all 1963's since this looks like a late 1963 part number. In fact, there was another part number possibly used for earlier 1963 and that part number was 3833331. I have no information on that part number.

The GM #3840397 was discontinued in October, 1968 and replaced by GM #3888404. The latter was also a 15/32 X 57" belt. It was discontinued in December, 1971 and replaced by GM #3946065, also a 15/32 X 57" belt. GM #3946065 was discontinued in January, 1975 and replaced by GM #9433766 which is a 7/16 X 57" belt.

A couple of other points:

Sometime during he 1964 model year, if not from the outset, the belt used was GM #3847705. This belt was 15/32 X 55-1/2".

I have found that, sometimes, the belt part number shown in the AIM is not the belt actually used in PRODUCTION or specified in SERVICE.
