Okay so my 350/300 back together enough to think about adjusting the valves close enough to start the engine to get the things hot enough to make the final adjustment. What do i do to achieve that.

Re: Valve adjustment
I assume you have a service manual. It states the eight valves you can do at the end of the compression stroke, TDC #1 and TDC #6.
At each position tighten or loosen the rocker nuts as necessary to obtain clearance that you can feel by jiggling the pushrod up and down. Then tighten the nut just enough to remove all clearance and further tighten another 3/4 turn for a new cam and lifters or 1/2 turn if the cam, lifters and other valve train components are already well run in.

Re: Valve adjustment
Just to add to Duke's post, you should not need to do it again if you take your time adjusting the valves the first time.- Top
