Rear Valance to quarter panel attaching nuts and bolts for side pipe car

What size nuts would be better? I have 2 different. The larger ones are the same size as my 63. Any idea what the head marks would be for the bolts? I assume they would be black cad correct? Judging manual is at my office.

IMG_7734.jpgNeither nut you have is correct. The factory used a 1/4-20 tall nut with a captured spinning thick washer. They don't repro the nut or the bolts correctly.

      Gary,
They are not black cad but s/b black phosphate. If you can't acquire the correct nuts in Rich's photo use a thick flat washer and nut. Difficult to see once assembled. Bolts are easy to come by. They are assembled from the inside out, (nut outboard). This is same for non side pipe too.

        Hi Garry,
Here's the bolt and nut from a Bowtie car.
The nut/washer relationship seems to be what Rich and Gene describe.
If you blow-up the picture a little you can get a pretty good idea.
Hope this helps in deciding what you'll use.
        Regards,
        Alan

THanks for the replies. I was able to get some images of another survivor and replaced them before judging.
