    Exhaust Manifold #3846666???

    Hello all:

I recently purchased a 1965 Corvette Coupe 327/365hp (L76 with A/C and T.I.). The numbers match on most of the parts, but I have an exhaust manifold that reads 3846666. Can't find that number anywhere in my books. I find numbers very close to it, but not that one. I've checked other Chevy lists and still nothing. Can anyone explain this? Thanks.

Yes, it's very easy to explain----you're reading the number incorrectly. This is quite common with casting numbers. The number is 3846563. So, you say you're really, really sure it's 3846666? Believe me, it's not. I've heard this sort of thing many times before with casting numbers.

Can't tell if your joshing me, Joe, but the number is 3846666. I wish it wasn't, but it is. Very strange. I checked Chevelles, Novas, etc., but there just isn't any record of this number. I swear, the number is what I wrote -- 3846666. Maybe it's the Devil's exhaust manifold.

There's no joshing here. No manifold of GM casting #3846666 ever existed. Period.

Curious. That's been what I've found, too. I'll take a picture tomorrow if I get time and post it. I don't think it's possible that I'm reading it THAT wrong. We shall see. But, thanks, Joe.

            Joe:
I PMed you. You were right. I brushed off the debris on the numbers and it was exactly what you said. Thank you, brother.
