Page 77 of my 1958-60 Tech Info Manual & Judging Guide says tie rods and tie rod ends are not painted except for yellow inspection marks. However, page 194 of my 1958-60 Restoration Handbook by Bob Baird and Tom Howey says to paint them. I like the idea of paining them, but will I lose points?

Re: 58 Tie Rods paint or no paint
Gene, I found black out tar type paint on all the front suspension components, believe it was painted as an assembly befor being bolted to the frame, thus attaching hardware would not be painted. The inspection marks were under the blackout paint. Zerks were raw, either added or protected.
