Does anyone have any idea where I might find a choke, thermostat coil and cover for a 69, cast iron intake, 350/350 with Q-jet carb? Zip and Paragon tell me these have been discontinued. I'm not proud, a used one will do fine. Any one have a cross reference book for parts? Maybe a sedan or truck one would fit. Thanks, jackdr

Re: 69 Choke Coil
Paragon lists it in their catalog as a licensed GM Restoration Part and Dr Rebuild also lists. The Dr. Rebuild part just might be real McCoy NOS stock, but unfortunately his policy is NOT to sell or discuss parts for a 'factory correct/original' application, so you simply buy in the blind and take what you get....- Top

Re: 69 Choke Coil
Steve and Jack----
The 73 choke thermostat and cover are different than the 69. For 1973, the choke stove is integral with the thermostat; for 1969 the stove is integral with the manifold.
The 69 Q-Jet choke thermostat is discontinued. However, you will be able to get a virtually identical replacement at your local auto parts store. Standard Brand Auto Parts (a widely available aftermarket manufacturer of automotive fuel and electrical parts) has the thermostat which you need available. I'll bet that NAPA stores do, too. If you need a cross reference, ask for the equivalent of GM #3946093 or GM #3927190.
The choke cover should still be available from GM under GM #3864866, despite what your GM dealer tells you. If not, you could find one of these in many self-service-type salvage yards. Just about any 68-70 Chevrolet should have one.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: 69 Choke Coil
I tried Paragon before I made the first post. Tried my local Napa and G.M. dealer. Also no luck. Now I am going to bombard these last two places again, with the numbers, and see if I get a better result. I will try to find Standard Brand on the net. If nothing there, next stop, my local junk yard. Thanks for all the help. jackdr- Top

Gosh....
I wouldn't have understood that if you hadn't pointed it out.... Funny, I mention a company and their published policy

Dr. Rebuild

"Notice We do not market any parts with any implied guarantee for Top Flight or Gold enddorsement or acceptance....If your ultimate goal is a trailer queen with all matching dates and numbers - please pursure such parts elsewhere...."

Then receive a personal 'slap' on this Discussion Board, by name, from you Geoffrey. OK, guess you want me not to refer potential customers to the Dr. Rebuild firm. I'll cease.- Top

Re: thats from Ole Jess
Can I refer all of you to the "Dale" posts below. There's someone who probably has his priorities in order instead of this "rivet counting" phony authenticity crap. These repro Corvettes are simply that-REPRO. Chevy never made 'em the way you guys "restore" them- JEEZ. I keep seeing these minor P matches cropping up all over the board and they seem to be getting more personal. I also agree with Old Jess- no one can warrant that some cranky judge won't deduct points for perfectly original parts he doesn't recognize. I thought this organization was formed for the preservation of the species.- Top

Tell 'em what you really think and don't hold back.... Yeah, go exercise those old 1st Amendment rights to and beyond the point of absurdity. Me, I'm on vacation for a week, so others can read and draw their own conclusions on 'waz up' with this obtuse/insane thread.- Top
