C2 - Manufacturer's Statement of Origin

Many years ago I was fortunate, and obtained the MSO for my car from the state of Maryland. The document gave me many pieces of information, such as shipping weight, H.P. (SAE), date and transfer of the car to Luby Chevrolet in Baltimore, Maryland, etc. When I purchased the car, I enjoyed the idea of a small block, as a result of the MSO I began to learn many things about the car. Noland Adams assisted me with the H.P. (SAE) value of 57.8, but based on info that he had obtained, we could not get the shipping weight to add up to a meaningful value. For those of you who have been lucky enough to locate the MSO, have you ever tried to get the shipping weight to add up, given the options on your car? I recently unearthed the info, it was stuffed in an old RESTORER, and will make it available to 67 owners. I would hate to think that others would use it to forge an MSO, but for those who have the MSO this is interesting. I hope Mr Adams does not mind since he did send it to me way back when.... A complete breakdown of shipping weight and curb weight, with all the option adds and deducts, is included in the Chevrolet specs and A.M.A. specs that are part of the "Restoration Package" available (free) from Chevrolet by calling 1-800-222-1020 and giving them your VIN.

Thanks for the information on the "Restoration Package" available from GM. I just called them at 6:00 PM CST and gave them the information on my C3 1970 BB. They are sending the data for my serial #. I have the MSO and hope I can figure out the weights shown based on the options and this new data. It is nice to find new sources of data to document our corvettes. GM can help

Ditto on the 'Restoration Package' info. I called to request packages for my 60 and 67. Even though they ask for serial numbers, I don't think there is any specific information other than general year specifications. Has anyone received info from this group that can speak about it first hand?

The information is general in nature and specific only to the date of manufacture. If you have just started building your reference library, you will find the info. useful.
