Hey guys,
I've got a 72 small block with a/c, hooker sidepipes, currently no a/c compressor. Anyway, the problem is when I bought the car it already had the hooker pipes on it, which was the reason the old A6 compressor was removed. So instead of buying a complete under car exhaust, I purchased the A6 compressor bracket for use with the pipes. There is NO way to get the header bolt back through the bracket and header flange. Its just too tight. Has anyone else had this problem with the bracket? The R4 uses a different bracket and it will work. I was told that an R4 can be used in place of an A6. But I do know that the later model cars that used the R4 also had a different drier, expansion valves, and something called a V.I.R. I am wondering if the later model R4 will work with the A6 components. Has anyone done this conversion? I am also going to 134a refrigerant. Please help! I'm stuck. Thanks in advance.
