I would appreciate any info you can give me on wear of 17" front and 18" rear tires on my 2000 C5. All C5's seem to have a lot of tire noise...not a problem...I love my car, but the moderate drumming sound I get seems to be coming from cupped tires. The tires have about 60% tread remaining but because they are directional and different sizes they can't be rotated. Any advise on this issue before I put out $1,300 for new tires?

Re: C5 tire wear
Have owned a 64, currently own a 68, 70, 85, and a 96. Have never had the cupping problem on any of my Vettes untill buying the 96 LT4. The problem is on the rear tires only. The miles on the tires were practically all interstate miles. I could of been at fault for the problem because I did not take the tires off and have them balanced every 5-7K. I checked into having the rear tires trued, but this would of required to much rubber removal on tires that only had less than 20K on them. The tires had never been spun or abused on take-offs since it was new as I have been the only driver. I bought new rear tires and got an alignment and will get the new ones balanced every 5-7 miles.
Don't know if it made a difference, but I did run 35 PSI in the tires. Now am using what is on the door label. I have used 35 PSI on my 85 with Michelins and in ten years have had no cupping of these tires.- Top
