Hello everyone, I have an interesting dilemma. I have a teal blue interior in my 67 roadster. The seats and the door panels are in beautiful condition with this exception. The passenger door panel shows wear at the place the driver hung his arm out of the window. The driver seat has a strange dark area of discoloration. However, the seat cover itself is beautiful. I am a sucker for original stuff and I tempted to have the interior dyed. /Can this be done sucessfully with expectations of longevity? If so, can anyone share their experience of what dye to use and how to prep the seats and door panels to do so? (I do have to admit that i did purchase a complete Al Knock interior set, but these original seats 50k mile car are really beautiful. I suppose that all the chrome trim pieces have to come off of the door panels? Is there anyone out there that can do this type of work if I decide its more than I wish to take on? TIA, Tony DiGiorgio

Re: An interior to dye for
Personally, I'd spray the panels (door and seat) rather than dye them. That way you can easily redo them if you mess up or if they ever start to show wear and you should be able to do it without removing the trim. Some may feel that spraying the seats won't hold up but my experience is that they will.

Tony----
Trying to dye-match the color of the existing interior panels and seats is going to be EXTREMELY difficult, at best. Trying to dye-match NEW panels is EXTREMELY difficult, let alone 35 year old pieces. Color gradations are infinite and, unfortunately, very slight differences are detectable to the eye. I'd leave them be.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
