Many years ago, before I knew much about diverter valves, my local Corvette repair shop ordered a new diverter valve for my '69 350/350. On this diverter there are some identification numbers stamped into the gold iridite plated "derby cap", i.e., CA 17084024, and 17152. I'm not sure if the CA means "California", the 8-digit number I assume is the GM part number, and I think that the 17152 translates to the 171st day of 1975, second shift. I did buy this part in the late 70's. Additionally, the body of the diverter is made of cast black plastic. I now know that the correct diverter for my car is a 7029199, so I have no use for this piece.
Can anyone tell me the true application(s) for this diverter? I'm assuming it's for a late '70s Corvette, but I'd like to know the exact application(s) so that I can offer it for sale to a fellow hobbyist through the Driveline. It's brand new, and hasn't been mounted on a car, so I'd like to see it go to someone doing an NCRS restoration.
