I have a T-10 Borg Warner 4 speed transmission which is leaking oil at the front where the woodruff key is. It looks like the woodruff key is in about 1/16 of an inch. Does anyone have any information or suggestions to fix this leak.

John-----
I don't know of any woodruff keys located on the front of a T-10 transmission. There are a few internal to the transmission which would not be related to any sort of leak from the front of the transmission or otherwise.
The main sources of leaks from the front of the transmission are as follows:
1) leaking input shaft seal (used on T-10s, but not Muncies)
2) leaking front bearing retainer gasket
3) worn or "egg-shaped" counter gear shaft hole
The input shaft seal and bearing retainer gasket are easily changed (with the transmission out of the car, of course). In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Joe, I don't believe the input seal was used until the super T-10 version, as the case has to be externaly vented to allow the use of the input seal, and the earlt cases (thru the T-10 1D) are not vented. I share your lack of understanding of the "Woodruff key" at the front of the trans.Bill Clupper #618- Top
