Hopeless search for weird TI parts

Can someone please tell me the original GM part numbers for a stationary magnet and rotating pole piece that fit a 1111263 transister ignition distributor? This is the no-vacuum advance, ball bearing, over-the-counter, semi-useless distributor for the reverse rotation racing cam. Assembly line Corvette TI distributor parts will not fit a #1111263 without modification. Perhaps the early Chevrolet Performance Parts catalogs listed service parts for this fonky thing.

Right now I'm considering the following courses of action:
    1) Ruin some perfectly good stock Corvette TI parts while trying to modify them to fit.
    2) Ruin a perfectly good GM points plate and rotor stand while trying to make them fit.
    3) Grip this distributor housing tightly near its center of gravity and see how far I can throw it into the Mobile River.

Endless search for weird TI ignition

Jerry, I have a 1971 issue of How to Hot Rod Big Block Chevys. On page 42 they give original part nos.1964272 for the stationary pole piece with magnetic pickup assembly and 1960779 rotating pole piece.
    Good Luck!!

      Jerry-----

When I saw the title of your thread, I knew what part that you were talking about without even reading the content of your post.

I have researched this matter previously and at great expense of time. As far as I can tell, the stationary pole piece (magnetic pick-up assembly) for the '263' distributor was never available in SERVICE. If it was, it was available only through some sort of "back-door" parts channel and not through regular GMSPO channels. The '263' distributor was a SERVICE-only, over-the-counter piece and was never used in PRODUCTION. SERVICE parts for non-PRODUCTION assemblies like this one are often not available through GM or Delco parts channels, so there is nothing really unusual about the non-availability of parts for this unit. The "reverse" pitch distributor drive gear, the ball-bearing-type housing, ball bearings, and main shaft were not available in SERVICE, either. All of these are '263' unique parts.

In any event, in old editions of the GM Performance Parts catalog it specifies that the GM #1960779 pick-up assembly (the standard version for most TI distributors) is the SERVICE unit with the parenthetical notation "can be modified to repair distributors 1111263 or 1111267".

        A fitting end

Thank you both for your help.

You've convinced me that my Course-of-Action Option #3 should be moved up to the "pole" position. Get it?

Uh... well, that's okay; I'm not laughing either.

          Jerry -

You'll get a longer trajectory if you grasp it at the drive-gear end and "whip" it, taking advantage of its extreme C.G. displacement

Why not just sell it on eBay- probably worth $1,000-2,000 as long as you mention that has low original miles from a NOS L-88.

              Ah yes... eBay...

              America's Landfill.

I buy and sell parts there all the time. To get truly high bids you must say WOW!, RARE!, and HAPPY BIDDING! in the title. The information you provide in the description text is just filler.

I put my phone number in my descriptions for no good reason. One time I got a call from a careful fellow who asked me to confirm that the seat belts I described in writing as "not from a Corvette" were truly not from a Corvette. I assured him that they were not. He then hung up and purchased them using the Buy-It-Now feature. Later that evening he e-mailed me and said that he was willing to honor his bid, but he really couldn't use the belts because they were not from a Corvette. He sounded so nice I just relisted them.

                Jerry:

Why not sell it to the Port Authority Of NY/NJ. It would make an ideal replacement for the base of Lady Liberty's torch. If you have it "cad" plated before the sale, it would probably fetch twice the price because it would stand up better to the rigors of NY's airborne invaders.

                  Hammer or Discus?

Thinking about this in the context of the various Olympic throwing events, I can't decide if it should be thrown like a discus or a hammer. Anyway, replicating those cool windups should increase the distance.

That's dishonest and against Ebay rules.

Are you serious? I hope you are kidding.
