    Front Header Bow

The front header bow on the convertible top frame of my '66 is rusty. Is that something that can be reproduced, or should I try to find a used one?

    Chip:

Front header bows are readily available in reproduction, although not cheap (I believe that they cost about $250). How badly rusted is yours? What is the location of the rust? Is it perforated?
Mine had a perforation the size of a dime on the underside, near the center, just adjacent to the tack strip. I repaired this with some "liquid steel", bondo, primer, paint, and reinstalled it. In this case, structural strength was not an issue, and when I attached the top material and front windlace, these covered the repair.
