Trim Tag Question

I looking at the 1967 JG, page 9, which list Final Monthly Serial Numbers and Body Build Date Codes. Under Month and Year, August 1966 and Body Build Date "A" the Final Monthly Serial Number is left blank. Why? Was it because there were no records or was it because there no cars built in August 1966. Which leads to another question. Did production stop on the 1966 model at the end of July/1966 or were any 1966 Corvettes built in August?

I believe 66 production finished on July 29th,1966 with car number 27720.
1967 production began September 1st,1967. The month of August was used to prepare for 67 production.

Blank is for "just-in-case".....

...some '67's surface with an "A" body build code. In fact, several pilot '67's were built in July of '66 [VIN # 00005 has a K13 body build, and is S1 (first '67 coupe)]. I've wondered how this car would fare in judging against the trim tag check.
