Re: 1961FRONT MOTOR MOUNT & WATER PUMP
Joe--the top tank, of course, is the expansion tank, so there is no separate expansion tank. Your question intrigues me, because in my 17 or so years as 61-62 team leader, I don't recall that queestion ever coming up. It's not specifically addressed in either the present or the recent past in the Judging Manual. My gut is certain that the notched motor mount bracket is correct, and I assume that the 609 pump is correct, but it doesn't need the hexagonal fitting on top, because there is no hose from the top of the water pump to the radiator. I looked in my files at those cars that had top tanks, and none of the guys I knew still own those cars. So that's my best input in that area.

There's a picture of a '61 with an early
top tank in the January 1961 Road & Track - Unfortunately, it's taken from the exact position you DON'T want - from the left side, thus using the upper radiator hose to block the area where the half moon in the mount would be.- Top

Re: 1961FRONT MOTOR MOUNT & WATER PUMP
My 61' was built on Oct, 1960 with a Top Tank Radiator for the 270 hp engine and had the notched motor mount bracket. the water pump number 3782609 was with the car. There were no side seals on the Radiiator assembly, which makes me wonder if they were lost or never there?- Top

Re: 1961FRONT MOTOR MOUNT & WATER PUMP
there are discrepancies in the judging manual and noland adams book. the manuall says all 62 340-360hp used the side seals. noland says that they didn't start the side seals till jan. of 1962. well, i just worked on an original #1400 1962 and it had side seals. who is right?- Top
