You are going to miss this Driveline chance?

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Corvettedom. I know that this subject has been posted to death here, but now I feel that it is my turn. PLEASE DO NOT REMOVE THIS POST AS IT IS NOT A SOLICITATION FOR A CAR FOR SALE. For reasons unimportant to this posting, I am having to sell my Corvette, sad but true. I went ahead and filled out the form for the Driveline ad and submitted it to the head office. It occured to me this morning, that one of the biggest Corvette audiances is right here on this site. I need to sell this car soon, so I did not limit my advertising to Driveline. Due to timing and publication schedules this advertisment will not be seen until the January/February issue. By that time, this car will no doubt be gone, and not one of you would have even had a chance at the car. Given my choice, I would rather sell it to another NCRS member than a Dealer/Broker/ or other retail operation. I am starting to be contacted by headhunters who represent large Corvette retail concerns.

I know that this issue has already been voiced, but this is important to me, important to that first time Corvette buyer who is looking for the right car, and should be important to each and everyone of you! Please consider placing Driveline on this site in electronic form. I am sure that the costs associated with the printing, and postage can be saved or placed into a slicker Restorer publication, not to mention the saving of our resources; paper, electricty, inks, distribution, etc.

    Thank You for the voice.

Amen Brother. You made many good points. I would rather but a corvette from a NCRS member than than one of those big retailers that only hve cars with the always correct 427.

Mark, as our last president (lower case intentional) said "I feel your pain". I have a layoff notice for January 3, 2003 and will be selling my toy. Since it is a low mileage, extremley orignal machine, I prefer to sell it to someone who will appreciate it. But, since MONEY is the key object at this point, I will sell it to whomever pays the numbers I am looking for. Why don't we enter the electronics age? Can't answer that. Do we have folks that say "We don't need that when I was young (30 years ago)"? Absolutely. They are the same ones who think that time stands still and what was good then is good now. Oh well.

I live on the west coast of Canada and by the time I get my copy of Driveline which is anywhere from 2 to 4 weeks later than the east coast everything I phone on has been sold. They don't want to spend anymore on postage for faster delivery so lets get with the times and go ELECTRONIC. This should be for members only. I know they will say this is not fair to the ones that don't have a computer but maybe they will then aquire one or use a friends. I can buy Camaro parts and Charger parts online at there websites and don't have to wait for a flyer to arrive every two months that is outdated before it arrives.
          Any comments from ADMIN?
          Thanks
          Sheldon

I asked this question about a week ago. Jack Humphrey sent me a very nice email explaining that a lot of time and discussion had been done. It was something like 800K to get it going and about half that for maintenance. That's not possible but I don't see why there couldn't be a for sale section like Corvette Forum or Vetteheads has. I seems easy.

IS anyone listening? This can effect all of us and the hobby in one way or another. Electronic advertising is the way to go. I do not agree it should be for members only, because that would hinder future growth of the hobby and make it a bit too exclusive.

Did I read that as 800 thousand dollars? and half of that as maint.?????
Excuse my ignorance, but how can that be? I would like to hear where the commercial advertisers in Driveline weigh in on an electronic Driveline?

                  people without computers

can go to the public library like i do when i am on vacation and catch up on the latest issue. even if you are not computer literate the local library is a good place to learn as the people there are very helpful and it is free thanks to "mr microsoft",bill gates who help pay for the computers and such.

                    Absolutely

Every small hamlet in the Northern Kingdom area of Vermont has a library with internet access and they don't even have a Red light in almost all of these town. The venerable Green Mountain Inn (#12 or #13 on the National Historic Register) in Stowe VT has some rooms with Desktops.

If own a Corvette and don't have a computer, your too poo, too be in this hobby. If you cannot use one, you won't be reading this.

                      Mark, you're...

                      shouting down a well.

                      Grasping at straws.

                      Tilting at windmills.

                      P**sing into the wind.

In short, you're wasting your time.

But if its any consolation, you're not the first!

But then... $houldn't the government DO $omething so that EVERYONE can have a Corvette?

Look at the wonderful pioneer work being done by that renowned Corvette $peciali$t whose name rhyme$ with "No-cream" - matching number '67 L88s for all!

                        These are the true enthu$ia$ts...

Amen, brothers. I am 61 and use computers all the time. Most of my associates are doing likewise. Surely we can come up with an inexpensive way to list our toys. I would trust one of you far more than a dealer.
