A LOCAL PARTS STORE HAS A SET OF GABRIEL SHOCKS FOR MY 1961 FOR $124.00. I THINK IT IS A STANDARD SHOCK. CORVETTE CENTRAL HAS GM SHOCKS FOR $44 EACH. I CALLED A CHEVY DEALER AND THEY SAID THE SHOCKS WERE NOT AVAILABLE. ANY SUGGESTIONS? THANKS, JOE

Re: C1 SHOCKS
Joe- Depending if you re going to have your car judged, the originals were the delco "spriral type", very hard to find and very expensive if available. Myself
I use a delco gas filled shock on my 62. Been on since 1997 and no complaints.- Top

Re: C1 SHOCKS/61 ARE NOT SPIRAL
Just because a car is Bloomington Gold or NCRS Top Flight doesn't mean everything is exactly right. I had a thread last month on this board about spiral shocks for my 61 and it never really resolved the question. My information comes from the 61/62 NCRS judging guide which I assume to be correct. I heard that there were lots of nice cars at that Sandwich Mass event. I'm not that far from there but unfortunately I was unable to get there.- Top

Re: C1 SHOCKS/61 ARE NOT SPIRAL
It certainally is possible to have spirals dated 1961 but that doesn't make them correct. The NCRS JG is specific on this point and I would say you would recieve a deduct for any type of spiral shock.- Top

Re: C1 SHOCKS
I can't be sure about the React shocks, but I sell both Gabriel and AC Delco shocks in my store. I put the same application shocks on my counter and one had a Gabriel sticker and one had a Delco sticker, but they were the same shock right down to the stamped numbers on the tube. I even did the same camparision to a set of struts.- Top
