I have found a 1974 corvette with the L-82 option, it has a removeable hardtop. It is good condition, the owner says it has 75,000 miles and the motor was recently rebuilt. It is also a 4-speed, and he says the numbers match. He is asking $9,500 for it , any help on finding out if this is a good buy or not and any other info about the model would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Value on a 74'
Keith, I've "looked" at probably 20 to 30 '74 and '75 roadsters in the last few years. I've been outbidded on three '75 roadsters the past two years but I have the attitude when the right one comes, that will be the one I get. To me a '74 or '75 roadster is a super cool look-only really a two year look. That figure of $9,500 does'nt seem bad at all even if the numbers did'nt match. All depends on what YOU are going to do with it in the future. NCRS shows? Cruise-ins? Daily nice weather driver? I myself can't make up my mind on a '74 or '75 conv. The '74 is simpler and easier maintenance, no HEI electric tach or electronic control module, no cat converter. I saw at Chicago Chevy VetteFest this weekend a '74 medium blue roadster/silver leather interior, 81,000mi., L-48 auto., nice condition but did need some minor cosmetics for $15,500. Also it was a pretty rare color/int. combo too. Main thing on these sharks, check carefully the frame, windshield posts(frame) and also bottom of the doors where the metal is bonded to the fiberglass. Good luck and remember, there are plenty of them out there-choose carefully. Also Keith you can go to www.traderonline.com (Thanks Ed McComas) and check out the ads for about 30 '74 and '75 convertibles across the country for sale. Paul Borowski- Top
