My 1984 Dash lights work sometimes, are out most of the time ! It seems to be a bad ground, when I tap on the dash, they come back on for a short time.. Is removing the dash covering the gauges a big job? Is there anything special I should know before attempting this? THANKS !!

I have heard that eventually one of the 2 main circuit boards in these digital dashes short out. Some of the Corvette suppliers like Mid America or Corvette Central sell $300.00 replacement dashes. That's pretty expensive. Go over to the Yankee Lady Corvette board. There are a lot of knowledgeble C4 owners there that may be able to help.

If you mean that the entire instrument cluster is flickering or going blank it may indeed be a bad ground. I had a similiar problem on my 84 and the culprit was the ground strap that was connected to one of the transmission to engine bolts on the drivers side. This is the main gound for the electronic guages and can come loose due to engine vibrations.Comment
