    Source for wiper motor parts?

I occasionally need to replace some of the small parts found inside a '63-7 wiper motor - like now, for instance.

Has anyone found a source for reproduction springs and plastic parts for these motors? I have made my own replacement springs before, but I can't manufacture the little clear plastic housing for the contact point mechanism. When these get brittle and shatter from old age, all I can do is reinforce them with epoxy. Hopefully someone now casts these housings out of a more durable material.

    Yo Jerry,

I haven't tackled that exact problem ~ yet, but I'm reasonably sure the passenger cars are the same or at least similar. Matter-of-fact, the one on my '65 began life on a '61 Impala... I'm not sure but I think I had to change the arm. The washer motors are slightly different but they too shold be good donors for small parts...

BTW, if its for your '63 or '64, it should have a 15 or 16 cast in the aluminum housing. '65 to '67 have a different number.

If you can't find one locally, I have several, e-mail me privately, OK?

    Hope this helps, Bob

      Jerry----

Very often internal service parts are available for components like these through AC-Delco dealers, but not through GM dealers. I don't know for sure if wiper motor parts can be obtained through this channel, but I know for sure that other parts can be. For example, Delco radio and instrument parts can be obtained this way. Several years ago, I had a Delco radio from a Camaro that I owned at the time serviced by a factory-authorized Delco radio repair center. I asked them to give me the replaced parts and they did so. They even put them in the boxes that the new parts came out of. These boxes were brand new type(with laser part number printing)and had GM "long number" on them. However, those part numbers could not be found in any GM Dealer parts catalog or Price Schedule. That's because they're distributed only through Delco parts channels.

One thing we know for sure. The rebuilders of these components have access to all the parts they need. That means "they're out there".
