    C2 Radiator Hoses

The JG states for both BB and SB the radiator hoses are black and usually have the part number and "GM" in large "white" characters.
Are the letters actually "silver in color" ? Are the radiator hoses sold with a blue stripe correct or incorrect for NCRS. I have found all the part houses sell the hoses with silver letters and some sell them with a blue stripe. All state that they are per NCRS standards.

The hose printing/striping configuration varied by application; they were not all the same. The printing on some was "silverish" and on others sort of "whitish". Blue stripes were used on some hoses and not on others. Since several manufacturers made the hoses originally, I'm sure that the hoses differed with respect to "fine nuances" even during the same model year and the same application. The GM specifications for the hose didn't "tie down" the specs for the color of the printing or the stripe to a federal spec (i.e. the 5 digit number that specifies a color to EXACT standards for government/military specifications). So, the hose manufacturers had plenty of room for "interpretation".

I have found that Dr. Rebuild has accurate and quality reproductions of hoses which are TYPICAL for a particular application. Are they EXACTLY the same as the PARTICULAR hoses used on your car? Only the guy who replaced yours for the first time would know that and he probably wouldn't remember even if you could locate him (assuming, of course, that he's not in a box by now).

Another aspect of Dr. Rebuild's hoses is that he doesn't use "elfs from der forest" to apply the printing/stripes to the hoses. The elfs, when they get involved in this process, do a rather crude job of application. It's not really their fault, though; their skills and training provided to them are very limited.

Both the upper and lower radiator hoses on my 66 427/425 came from Dr Rebuild. I did not incur any point deductions during the judging process last October.
