Replacing and refinishing the voltage regulator on my '62.

1. I know the cover was painted a gloss black. What about the base?

2. Was the voltage regulator in place when the engine compartment blackout paint was applied? Did blackout paint get on the mounting screws? Capacitor?

The base was zinc-plated, and the regulator was not in place when the engine compartment was blacked-out; it was installed later on the Trim Line.
