    C2 327 - 375HP valve covers

I need to know what the correct valve cover would be for a 1965 327 375 HP engine. Does anyone know the GM part number and where would that be found on the cover. I was told it should not have the casting flaw through the letter O , can anyone verify that for me? Thank YOU!

Jim P/N 3767493 is the correct part. I have a NOS set in boxes from the late 70's I just looked at. The casting flaw appeared in 1966 in the molds, so your 65 should not show the crack through the "o". I know there are folks that will clean them up and remove the flash line from the casting. Later castings have more hairline cracks in the surface as well, the molds were getting worse. I believe someone bought the molds and they are now GM Restoration parts, I don't know if there was any work done on the molds to improve the quality of the cast covers. Best of luck!.....Craig

Forgot to mention, the number is also cast on the underside of the cover, along with the word LESTER....Craig

The 493 covers were tooled and released in March, 1959, and Lester was the die-cast supplier until they went out of production in '68 or '69; Paragon owns the molds now.

So John - do you mean that all the over the counter GM parts in the system were leftover from production runs in 68-69? I know GM just stopped selling them in the last few years....just curious. Has anyone seen a set from Paragon? Just wondering if they cleaned up some of the hairline fractures in the molds....Craig

I'm sure they made lots of them for service long after the parts were no longer used in production; don't know how long the molds sat unused before Paragon bought them a couple of years ago.
