    Synthetic vs Silicone Brake Fluid

Has anyone used the synthetic brake fluid from Valvoline? They are the only ones I'm aware of who produce an actual synthetic, not silicone brake fluid. I've had success with silicone, but the idea of synthetic seems to possibly be the best of both worlds.
    Let me know.

Re: Synthetic vs Silicone Brake Fluid

Valvoline "Synthetic" is just glycol-based DOT 4 fluid. I recently used a quart to flush the brakes on one of my cars because my normal Castrol LMA DOT 4 was not in stock. If you scroll down a day or two you will notice a thread on silicone versus glycol-based fluid.

You can call any common glycol-based fluid "synthetic" because the chemicals in normal brake fluid are "synthecised" in a petro-chemical process. Same applies to silcione fluid, and many ohter common chemicals.
