    Holley 2818 choke cover

The '64-5 Holley 2818 carburetor had a black plastic cover on the choke thermostatic coil. My old Holley parts book identifies the cover as item #45-127. I'm trying to buy one to replace a cover cracked by UPS. The local Holley parts outlet says that the part number 45-127 is "wrong" and/or unavailable. The child looking it up in the store parts book had no idea where I could go for help other than the Holley website.

This same black plastic cover was used on the 3310, 9188, and fifties versions of the 1850. The 2818 and 9188 are still being manufactured by Holley. I don't understand why this cover wouldn't be available as a replacement part.

Could someone please give me a hand? Am I using the right Holley number? Has anyone bought one of these covers anywhere?

I emailed Holley about the cover a few months back....they said they no longer carry it. Told me to try Chicago Corvette!

      Jerry-----

The original Holley part number for the choke cover for the R-2818 carburetor was 47R-114A. However, it's possible that it was replaced by the 45-127. The original GM part number for the 47R-114A was GM #3867996. Under that number, though, it's been discontinued for over 20 years.

        Jerry,
I have never seen the cover only; only the cover with the coiled spring. Even that was disc by Holley with the last few years.

          Not a bad reference!

Al Fierke 'Alf' at Chicago Corvette has one of the largest catalog selections of carb components and is a genuinely nice guy!

            Thank you all

            I sure appreciate the advice.

I had turned to Holley because the cover is still in use on some of their current carbs. I should have checked my Corvette parts catalogs instead. There it is, right on page 83 of the Dr. Rebuild catalog (Volume 27).

              All for naught

The man who received the carburetor doesn't want me to file a UPS damage claim to pay for a replacement choke cover. He now says he plans to convert the carburetor to an electric choke.

I wish he'd said that last week.
