I am helping a friend of mine with the resto of his 55 265 with a PG. I have two questions, from what I can see the upper gen bracket is black, did this bracket have any orange overspray on it? Was the bracket secured to the water pump area with a stud or was it just behind the bolt? Any help or info, also I can't seem to find any factory engine photos, any ideas?

The gen. was ALL black and the adjustment arm red like the engine, the water pump did not have a bolt useing a stud just a bolt. -

The bracket was not installed at the factory (to prevent being bent in shipping) and was attached with the water pump bolt. In several circa '54-5 photos in Adams' book, the upper arm is clearly black, not engine orange. This is something which needs correction in the NCRS Guide. Mine is black, and has always been black. Just ask my Dad- I was too young when the car was new.Comment

Dave you mean the Gen. bracket was not installed as they drove out of the plant but was later installed at the Dealer??Comment
