    Is it worth it

I was wondering if investing nearly $55,000 into a 1965 Fuel Injected Coupe is worth it. I am new to the restoration game and this car would be totally restored to original like new condition. Would I be upside down in the car (financially that is) or would it be worth more that that when finished.
Any advice from you veterans would be appreciated. Thanks

If the asking purchase price of the car today is $55K, you would definitely be WAY upside-down financially if you bought it and restored it; restoration is not a financially-justifiable activity (unless you own a restoration shop) - it just satisfies a primal urge

If the $55K is the TOTAL invested price, you might not be too far off. If the car needs much restoration, you'll be way upside down. Midyear fuelies don't seem to have quite the collector interest as the C1 fuelies, perhaps due to being overshadowed by the big blocks. The 65 fuelie is by far the rarest of the midyear fuelies and seems to carry the highest price tag. 63-64 fuelies seem to be fairly plentiful (relatively speaking) in the upper $30K to mid $40K range.

I always heard there is no such thing as paying to much .... just buying to soon. I didnt buy a 63 fuel conv in about 1977 because it was too much money at $10,000. at the same time a friend sold a 65 BB for $10,000.and thought he made the deal of a lifetime...Bill

I tend to agree with Bill. What anything is worth is a personal question as to what it is worth to you. If you have a car available to you NOW and it is just what you want and not completely ridiculous in price and you have the money then just do the deed. The emotional and enjoyment factors can be worth big bucks in my opinion. THAT is why I buy Corvettes. It seems that it will eventually catch up to the price even if you pay high. What is your time and effort worth to find another car that you will like as well in the condition that you want? I bought my 67 BB aat a classic auction and I know I paid a big dollar price at the time but I really loved that car. The color both in and out were great. The restoratiopn was done well but still driveable without killing the restoration. About a #2- car. And now it is probably worth almost what I paid for it if I wanted to sell it. Try doing that with ANY new car that stickers for what you might pay for a classic.
By the way, I still LOVE that 67!!!
