      Security dogs

      Doc,
I agree. You might get the best of one big Doberman, but my two. They have free run of the fenced back yard and do NOT like adult strangers. The can even get in and out of the garage at will for a bed, food and water when we are out.

        Re: security

Geoffrey's right, dogs rule.If they get past the shar pei,(good luck) and take the car,I'll call the insurance company. If they've escaped, they may have a car, but will miss an appendage they once had.No one wants to get mauled by a dog, especially guard dogs that will switch temperments once they go into protection mode.Better than any system going, even the crooks say so.

          Re: only female guard dogs.

Clem, I have (2) 200 lb. female Saint Bernards. Their jaws are so big I can put my fist in their mouth. They tore a racoon in half in the back yard a month ago, so I suppose this amount of protection would suffice, no? Patrick

            Re: only female guard dogs.

sounds good to me because one of the most wanted estate burglars was caught after 30 years and they ask him how he got passed the guard dogs he said he just dropped a female dog in heat over the walls of the estates and wait till nature took its course.

              Re: security

John, I subscribe to the multiple layer theory while on the road. Park in a well lighted area, preferably right outside the lobby or your room. Then lock the doors. Then turn the wheels all the way to one side or another. This makes it harder to load on a trailer. Then install the meanest CLUB you can buy. Then have your mechanic, or you, put a switch inline with the fuel pump, somewhere out of sight. A carb will run about a mile or so before the engine dies. My '82 (TBI) will turn over, but won't start. Then get a Lojack anyway, it might work in the city you go to.

My idea is to frustrate the punk until he decides to try an easier target. If one thing fails for whatever reason, hopefully one of the other methods will kick in and foil the theft.

And finally... get the insurance just in case. Hope this helps.
