    64 gas tank

The repo anti-squeek pads that the gas tank sits on seem really cheap and dthin! Should they be double up? How about the use of regular roofing tar paper? Would any adhesive have to be used?

    Re: 64 gas tank

I hate to say it, but.... It is roofing tar paper that is being sold as anti squeak material. Ya, I'm the proud owner of some also. The real stuff is about 85# paper. I tried to locate some thru local roofing Co's and found one guy who wanted to sell me a roll for $28. I haven't looked at it yet 'cause I'm trying to purchase just a 6"x36" piece...don't need a whole roll!

I know that NOW!!! The "homesite" stuff isn't even close to the original thickness....... but it IS the stuff the vendors sell.

          Cheap houses get cheap paper

Custom homes with quality roofs (watch for dimensional shingles) get a higher grades of paper. Most roofers will gladly give away scraps and or sell short rolls if asked, or go "Dumpster Diving".

I tried thaat and even went to a couple of roofing Co's with a sample of the real stuff. They couldn't come close...all they had was 40# paper. They estimated the sample at 85#...

We went with dimensional shingles when we built our new home, and the roofers used 80# paper - should have saved some for you
