I need the chrome redone on my '56 wonderbar radio. Do I detach the buttons,the wonderbar, etc and take them to the rechromer or do I have to take the whole assembly. It scares me to have the entire radio in the hands of the rechromer!!

Steve, Yes, You will want to pull the buttons and the face as I doubt that any plating shop do the job unless you do. You will also need to remove the lense and retainer from the face. The retainer is crimped and you will need to be very carefull removing it. Depending on how bad your parts are pitted, You may want to consider new replacements. The new buttons are held on with set screws while the originals are press-fit, but once the face is on you can't tell the difference. I have done it both ways and would probably just put new repro buttons and bezels on in the future. Regards, John McGraw -

Steve, I mis-spoke, as far as I know no one is producing the 56-57 radio face and buttons. I belive that only the 58-62 ones are available.Comment

John, off hand do you know who is reproducing (or who is selling) the reproduced 58-62 radio buttons and other chrome?
