My 62 came with some cheap repo door panels which have the plastic "metal uppers". They were also missing some of the trim. I have acquired a set of good originals(?) with the proper upper metal upper supports and all the trim intact. Wrong color, of course. My question: Bare door panels without the metal uppers installed are pretty inexpensive, about $100 less than those with the metal installed. How difficult is it to transfer the upper supports to the new panels and make it look right? Looks to me like the metal upper is stapled to the hardboard lower with some big staples. Is this hard to duplicate in the field? Am I better off to spend the extra hunderd bucks and get the uppers factory installed? I'd really rather only do this operation one time.
