59-62 master cylinder cap

Hi Guy's,

I have what I have been told is an aftermarket master cylinder in my 59.

I need to replace the cap and I have bought an original one but it is around 1 1/8 - 1 3/16" but the cap on my mastercylinder is around 1 9/16". Is this the size of a later master cylinder (62 etc) as I have noticed that these cars have the white plastic cap.

I want to order a new cap so would appreciate if anyone could confirm the later cap size.

The cap you should have is the same as 53-61 haveing #5300880 cast iron

If you have a Lockheed-Warner replacement master cylinder, there is NO plastic cap that will fit. 1961-62 Delco 022's (original equipment) had a smaller opening which accepts the plastic cap.

1958 through 1960 also originally used the Delco cylinder.

Thanks Guys,

When I checked out my buddies 65 his caps looked to be the right size but I couldn't try the fit as his has some custom billet covers and wouldn't fit under the fender edge.

Are the stock 65 caps around the 1 9/16" like my aftermarket cap?
