1965 Coupe 396/425

Hi guys,

Finally got the clutch and transmission back in the car and had the carburetor rebuilt. Runs great until after about 20 minutes then she won't start again. As a matter of fact, the starter won't even turn. Car cools down for about 5 minutes and bam, starts right up like a champ. Anybody ever experience this?

check all the wires to the starter for loose connections and if no loose connections try a new solenoid

Replace the solenoid spring with the weaker unit.

The GENERAL figured this out a long time ago and offered a "Hard Start Solenoid Spring" which is still available from GM. Don't have a # handy but the guy at the counter will know.......Bill #20328

Appears that I have a bad ground connection at the battery which is intensified when the car is hot.

Have you heard of this before? Is it common?
