C-2 A-ARM PAINT

I am probably #1005 asking this question.......
What is the correct finish on the A arms of a 67? The judging guide says gloss black while many of the restoration publications say semi-gloss. Mine "appeared" to be semi-gloss before I stripped them. If the frame and most other components are semi-gloss why would the A arms be gloss?

The a-arms were not painted the same as the frame and have a different degree of gloss. That's because the frame was not originally painted, at all. It was coated with an asphaltic coating. This coating had a degree of gloss APPROXIMATELY similar to semi-gloss paint.

The a-arms were dip painted with actual paint. They were semi-gloss, but tended to the glossy side of semi-gloss. SERVICE replacements, when they were available, were often painted with a high gloss black paint.

Steve, Most all the black chassis components are a semi gloss (when new). But age takes it toll on original appearances. The A arms are, when new, of a higher gloss than the other parts of the chassis. Not a lot glossyer but they did shine more. The judging guide just attempts to make the difference known.
