Even with a fresh valve job, my 77 has an idle stumble that puzzles me. Although the L48 has all the vacuum operated engine components that the AIM shows, I noticed that the routing and connections of my vacuum hoses are different from what the AIM indicates - for instance, the exhaust manifold crossover valve control is connected to a carburetor vacuum source instead of the vacuum valve on the front of the intake. The engine is pulling 15 inches of vacuum - which should be plenty. Is it possible that the vacuum line arrangement is causing the problem? Can anyone vouch for the accuracy of the AIM routing? I have found a few errors in the various 68-82 AIM vacuum routings but not for 77 L48 emissions - at least not yet. If this link pic says safeimage error, you may have to enter www.DocRebuild.com and then follow links to emission hoses, then to your specific year.
