    67 rally wheel paint

I'm geting ready to refinish a set of DC rims and I'm not sure what paint to use for the "black." I've seen a thread on how they were painted at KH and GM (although there were differing opinions) but can anybody recommed a correct black paint code for the back of the wheels?

    Thanks.

John - '67 rally wheels on mine are 'silver' both sides. Or at least I think they were 'silver' when new. I've had them blasted, primed and I sprayed them 'silver' both sides. Are you saying they were 'silver' outside and 'black' inside?

    Interesting to know.

Tom, they should be a semi flat black on the inside with silver overspray from doing the front sides.

Quanta sells a special black paint for the back of rally wheels. I've used it, and I think that it's just about right.

Thanks, Gene. We'll I'll be....didn't know they were black on inside.

Just for clarification, we're speaking of '67 'rally' wheels, 'silver' in color, and have five symetrical 'slots' around the outer edge, with beauty rim and a beanie hub in center? Right?

With respect to rally wheels, regardless of whether 67, 68, or 69-82, the rears were originally painted black.

I have 5 DC Stamped wheels with orignal bias tires, ....so the rears are painted black? what is correct? all are silver on mine!

Production rally wheels were dip-primed black, and later they were mounted on a spindle on a wheel paint rack on a conveyor where the wheels were spun by hand and the front side was sprayed with Argent Silver wheel enamel; some overspray got through the slots onto the back side. Rally wheels provided through Service were also dip-primed black, but were painted Argent Silver on both sides at the Regional Parts Depots to extend their shelf life and "enhance" their appearance when they went across the parts counter to the customer.
