My odometer is not working at all and the speedo is registering 5-10 mph low (I believe). Do the two guages operate independently or off the same cable? The speedo guage reading is smooth with no wild needle fluctuations or jerking. Any ideas for both problems? Thanks for your help.

Re: C2 - '63 speedo / odometer
The two work on one cable. If the speedo is working smooth but not registering the correct speed you will have to change the gear in the transmission. This is not as difficult as it sounds. Most repair shops can do it in a couple of minutes. If the odometer is not working I would think you would have to send the assembly out to be fixed.- Top

Rick - If you have a friend in law enforcement have him check your speedo against the radar gun. If you are off on speed, it's a simple matter of changing the plastic speedo gear at the end of the speedometer cable. You can get the gear from Chevy or from Dr Rebuild. I think the Dr's catalog has a small application chart for mph change by number of teeth on the gears. Very easy fix.- Top
