    1967 Fan clutch

I was wondering if it is worth the expense from a judging standpoint(i.e. cost vs. point deductions) to find the correct clutch fan for my 1967 big block. The car has an Eaton replacement clutch that looks and functions fine.Originals are quite expensive. Thanks! Jim Carmain #37003

    Jim:

Probably not much bang for the buck. In 1965, it is worth about 4 points, which is probably the same for '67. A rebuilt original unit will cost roughly $175.00.

I have a good replacement unit in my car, so I won't spring for the dough. I would have gotten the correct clutch if mine was NG. Of course, you must also factor in how good the rest of the car is, and if you can afford to lose 4 points. A tar top battery costs $140.00 (undated), but is worth about 14 points (assuming you are comparing it to a current replacement Delco unit). You figure it out.
