    Perforation

Just removed the old 1965 soft top from the frame, and whaddaya know--I found the header bow moderately rusted on its underside, with one perforation about the size of a dime. Can anyone recommend a product to close the hole (after the rust is sandblasted off, of course), and add some thickness to the thin spots. The area in question will be covered, and strength is not an issue, but I want something stronger than Bondo, like an epoxy based product. The severe corrosion is localized in an area approx. 2"x 6". I believe that this bow can be rescued, especially in light of the fact that a new piece sells for around $270 to $300. What can I expect to pay at Carlisle, assuming I can find one that is better than mine?

Have you considered All-Metal. I have used it in the past on similar holes with good results.

      Joe-----

As long as the basic structural integrity of the bow has not been seriously compromised by the corrosion, I would recommend the use of JB Weld to repair the hole. JB Weld is very strong and you can contour and sand it after curing to conform to the original configuration.

        Thanks Ed And Joe

Yes, the structural integrity is all there, so it is purely an "anal retentive" cosmetics issue. I will look at the "All Metal" and "JB Weld" products.
