1966 Bowtie judging

I have a 1966 Coupe. Original paint & interior. Rear bumpers, tailights,gas tank, calipers, front rotors, hoses, mufflers and headliner are the only things replaced. The paint and interior are in excellent. L79 car wih the original reak wheel and off road exhaust. Would this car even be in the ballpark or Bowtie judging?

Next question: The car has bright Trico wiper blades. The judging guide calls for the dul inish blades but Noland Adams wrote in his book that the change over to dul finish blades occured in March of 1966. my car is #3507. Built on October 20th. Thanks for your thoughts

It can't hurt to have the car evaluated for Bowtie judging - before you make any decisions to start changing or improving things on the car. If you have access to NCRS Judges in your area, they could take a cursory look at the car to see if they recommend taking it to a regional for the official examination that determines if you are invited to a National for Bowtie judging. You can have some non-original items on the car and still earn Stars if the judged areas meet the minimum requirements (85% interior/exterior and 80% chassis/engine). I went down this same road with my '66 several years ago, and am glad that I resisted the temptation to "improve" the car, before having it evaluated for Bowtie judging.

As far as your wiper blades go, one of my cars is an early '66, built Oct 12, and it also has the bright finish '65-style blades. There is no way I can know whether or not they are original, but I think early '66 cars could have come with the bright finish blades (although it seems most judges don't accept this position...). I for one, would like to know the date specified in the legislation for implementation of the change to dull finish blades.
