I have a 1962 327 ci, 340 hp. 4-speed, totally original and ready to start putting her back together. Right now, the body is sitting on the chassis with only the dash, gauge housing, windshield, doors (w/windows) wheels w/tires (w/original brake drums) and steering column installed. I have a crate engine ready to install,(I'm restoring the original 340hp and using the crate as a driver... but prior, what should I do to the chassis and/or body prior to dropping the engine/transmission combined? The old fuel and brake lines (w/master cylnder) have been removed. The mufflers have been removed along with all hangers. Fan shroud, radiator and all wiring are removed. Is there a better procedure to start with regards to lines, fuel tank(it's just sitting in the compartment without connection), interior? I am truly sorry for such a long question and I hope you understand. I appreciate everyones' expertise and great recommendations. Thanks for your assistance.

Don,
You should replace almost everything you listed in your post before replacing the engine/transmission. The engine will go in with all the exhaust system in place, just tie it over to the side. I would do the brake lines and fuel lines first, then the wiring harness, then the exhaust. The only thing I would put in after the engine is the cooling system.- Top

Replace the brake line that goes along the front suspension crossmember in. Put the fuel pump on, but be careful with it when you lower the engine in. Get the ignition wire shield brackets and exhaust manifolds on. Put the radiator shroud in afterwards, but make sure the threads on the captive nuts on the frame are OK. Make sure the draglink on the front suspension is good. Obviously, clean and paint.- Top
