    Correct Blue for 1971 Convertible

I am getting different information about the correct color for my 1971 with color 972 exterior. The interior is well faded and dry rott. Every thing I see on the web indicates "Dark Blue". When I try to order thise from some suppliers they say it is "medium blue". Are we talking about the same color? Where can I go to find what the true color should be. Carpet is so bad to compare would be usless.
    Thanks

Ralph, GM called the 1971 "dark blue," but it is not a navy. In fact "medium blue" is probably closer to a true description. Why not ask the supplier to mail you a swatch of his 1971 blue to look at? You might also request 1972 blue as I think it may have been a different shade even though it had the same 412 code. It is possible that repro companies are marketing them as the same.

        Ralph,

See my post below regarding carpet for 1970 for a few suggestions.

Reba is right - get samples. Very few companies actually MAKE the interior parts for your car (I've got the same year and colors) but many sell them. Reba and I have gone back and forth on the color, as I think the 72 color is the same, at least when it comes to reproduction pieces. I think it was the same in real life, too, but that's just semantics as you need to find a color you like.

Remember that several compnies made the OEM/original parts for your car. The interior parts did NOT match on day one, and you likely won't get them perfect in reproduction.

Some reproduction parts are OK, some are very poor. Feel free to contact me off-line if you need more specifics.

        Patrick
