53-54-55 6 cylinders (Couldn't resist) Don't know when they went to the blue in the later years....about mid 1977 production, I think. Chuck

      Chuck and Tim-----

Yes, for V-8 ENGINES, the change from Chevrolet Orange to "Corporate Blue" ocurred early in 1977 production and continued through, I believe, 1981. Then, the change was made to "Corporate Black" for 1982.

As far as EGR valves were concerned, if they were installed at the engine plant, then they may have been partially painted with the engine. In that event, they would have been partially painted the same color as the engine. If they were installed at St. Louis, then they should not be painted, at all. Check the AIM for the specific year in question to determine if the EGR was installed at St. Louis, or not.

Don't I wish I had the AIM. (It's on it's way) My 81 was assm. in St. louis and has a non painted EGR.

But would 1974 have an EGR?

            Tim-----

All 1974 Corvettes had EGR and the valve was installed at Flint Engine. So, there may be engine paint on portions of it.
