    Tri-power fuel line leak

Does anyone have a good solution for eliminating fuel line leaks on a tri-power. It's not actually the line that leaks. It's the nut that holds the fuel filter in place at the carb. What actually happens is when I tighten up the nut that secures the line to the filter nut, the residual torque in the metal line wants to unwind and loosen up the filter nut. Thus my leak. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

you have to loosen the line from the nut then tighten the nut then the line
I have to do this every begining of summer after the car sits for a few months
A small amount of teflon tape will help the nut, make sure you don't have any tape loose off the threds,it might get in and clog something up

      Re: Tri-power fuel line leak

I've had similar symptoms with my tri-power, but I fixed it in a different manner. The gasket behind the fuel filter nuts would seep fuel. So I'd tighten them. A few drives later, they'd be seeping again. Over and over. So I tried an idea which has worked very well. See, the last time I rebuilt the carbs, I used off-brand carb kits. Suspecting that the quality of the kits might not be the best, I went down to the local speed shop and ordered 3 HOLLEY fuel filter housing gaskets. I discovered the Holley gaskets were made of a thinner and harder material. Apparently what was happening with the off-brand gaskets was this: They were thicker and softer, so with time the gaskets would compress slightly allowing the fuel seepage. Each time I tightened them, they'd relax and seep some more. Since I've installed the Holley gaskets, I've had no problems at all. The Holley part number for the gasket is 108-8. (For a '67 at least...)

      Good luck!

Ditto what Bill is saying about the gaskets; this fixed my same problem.
