c3 clutch pivot stud wrong rod?

I'm looking for a logical explaination for the welding of a 2 in extention in the lower push rod. And maxed out adjuster. (Somebody's got to deal with doing it wrong)

Can anyone help with identifing the right ball stud and clutch fork for 1981 L81 4speed.
The serice manual refs. an L48 stud as not correct. But I wouldn't know either if they were sitting in front of me.

The clutch fork ball stud for your application is GM #3729000. This IS the ball stud originally used for your application and is, currently, the only ball stud available for ALL 1963-81 Corvette applications.

The clutch for is GM #3887177. This fork was originally used and remains available in SERVICE for all 1964-81 Corvette applications.

If either of the above don't work for you, then you've got another problem.

Adding a piece to lengthen the lower clutch fork pushrod is seen occasionally when someone is trying to make up for a clutch/throwout bearing mis-match in order to be able to maintain clutch adjustment capability at the upper pushrod and swivel. This is a clue that there are some wrong parts inside the bellhousing.
