    More C1 Parking Brake

The previous owner of my 60 completely rebuilt the rear drums from scratch
everything on it is new, however he did not install any parking brake components.
I have installed all the cables and connected them to the actuating lever that
sits aside/behind the rear shoes. Is there supposed to be a spreader bar that
connects to that actuating lever? is it supposed to have springs? what parts
am I missing (that he did not install) is there a parts list of all the pieces
I need inside the drum? The service brakes work but I am trying to complete the E-brake install.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Scott, Yes, there is a spreader that inserts between the actuator and the rear shoe and the spreader has a spring on one end to keep it in place. The system is very similar to all GM cars of that era. Have you looked at the ST-12? Although I don't have it in front of me, I believe it has an illustration. Steve

ST-12? not sure what that is. Could you or anyone else send me a diagram
or refer me to a manual so that I may see a picture of how it goes together?

      Thanks

Scott, The ST-12 is the 53 through 62 Corvette service guide. It is available through NCRS and, probably, many other sources. I just looked and there isn't a real good illustration. If you can't find a Chilton's or Motor's manual from that era, let me know at my email and I will scan one for you. Steve

Thanks Steve, I do have the service guide but it doesn't have a good
picture of it. I did however find one for passenger cars in general and
have ordered the parts I need.

          Thanks again for the help.
